New Slackware 14.1 is released!

After over a year of development (including the beta release and several release candidates to get everything polished up) we're proud to announce the availability of the new stable release.

You'll find updates throughout the system, with the latest compilers and development tools, and recent versions of applications, window managers, desktop environments, and utilities.

The Linux kernel is updated to version 3.10.17 (part of the 3.10.x kernel series that will be getting long-term support from the kernel developers). The x86_64 version of Slackware also adds support for installing and booting on systems running UEFI firmware.

The Official Release of Slackware Linux by Patrick Volkerding is an advanced Linux operating system, designed with the twin goals of ease of use and stability as top priorities.

Install Equalizer dan Plugins Lengkap Untuk Rhythmbox

 

Rhytmbox yang jadi default audio player bersamaan ketika kita menginstall ubuntu adalah sebuah player yang baik.

Rhytmbox ini hadir dengan berbagai kemampuan untuk memutar file-file audio dan juga memiliki banyak plugins yang bisa kita aktifkan dari menu plugins.

Tetapi ketika kita menggunakan Rhytmbox ini, satu hal yang tidak ditemukan adalah Equalizer. Mungkin ketika kita memutar audio dan mendengarkannya di speaker mini atau headset, hal itu tidak terlalu berpengaruh, tapi saat kita menikmatinya di sis speaker yang lebih besar, misal pada sistem 2.1 umumnya kita ingin bisa menyesuaikan tone yang dihasilkan oleh player ini sesuai dengan karakter musik yang dibawanya.

Disitulah kita merasa membutuhkan adanya equalizer. Lalu, bisakah kita menginstall equalizer di Rhytmbox? Bisa. Yup.. kita bisa menambahkan equalizer di Rhytmbox.

Caranya? Caranya begini :
Kita akan menginstall plugins Rhytmbox yang tidak terinstall secara default ketika menginstall ubuntu. Ketikkan baris perintah ini di terminal

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:fossfreedom/rhythmbox-plugins 
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install rhythmbox-plugin-complete

Seperti biasa ketikkan password yang diminta oleh sistem dan saat ditanya apakah kita akan melanjutkan installasi, jawab saya "Y" dan tunggu sampai installasi plugins-nya selesai.

Setelah installasinya selesai, segera kita bisa melakukan pengaturan plugins, untuk mengaktifkan plugins Equalizer melalui menu Tools >> Equalizer.

Tips Memilih dan Membeli Perangkat Mikrotik

Dalam memilih produk kita harus selektif dan mempertimbangakan aspek kebutuhan. Begitu juga ketika kita akan membeli perangkat Mikrotik. Mungkin bagi anda yang belum begitu mengenal Mikrotik akan sedikit bingung dalam menentukan produk Mikrotik mana yang pas dengan kebutuhan jaringan kita.

Dalam artikel ini akan di bahas tips membeli perangkat Mikrotik yang pas dan bagaimana cara mempersingkat waktu dalam memilih perangkat yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan kita. Hal pertama harus kita lakukan adalah merencanakan network secara detail dan rinci, diantaranya adalah :

1. Sebarapa besar network yang akan kita buat  dilihat dari jumlah client dan juga besarnya  traffic (real troughput) yang akan di handle oleh perangkat tersebut nantinya.
2. Pada perangkat yang akan kita gunakan nantinya apakah membutuhkan hanya interface wireless, hanya interface Ethernet atau kedua interface tersebut di gunakan
3. Fungsi dan fitur apa saja yang akan kita gunakan pada perangkat tersebut, secara fungsi seperti router, server dan sebagainya sedangkan secara fitur seperti proxy, dhcp, hotspot dan sebagainya.

Pada dasarnya secara fungsi dan fitur semua jenis perangkat mikrotik sama, dari mulai perangkat jenis Routerboard sampai dengan PC/MikroBits series (tergantung lisensi levelnya), yang membedakan perangkat yang satu dengan yang lain adalah spesifikasi hardwarenya dimana semakin besar spesifikasi hardware maka kemampuan untuk menghandle user, service atau fitur yang di gunakan dan juga traffic (real troughpunt) semakin besar.

Dari penjelasan sebelumnya dapat diambil kesimpulan bahwa yang yang perlu kita sesuaikan adalah spesifikasi dan kebutuhan hardware, untuk kebutuhan dan spesifikasi hardware secara teori dapat kita kelompokkan seperti berikut :

• Hardware dengan processor 300/400 Mhz seperti RB450, RB750, RB493, dan sebagainya idelanya dapat digunakan untuk beban traffic kurang dari 5 Mbps
• Hardware dengan processor 680/800 Mhz seperti RB450G, RB433H, RB493G, RB800 , dan sebagainya idelanya dapat digunakan untuk beban traffic kurang dari 20 Mbps
• Hardware dengan processor 1Ghz seperti RB1200 idealnya untuk beban Traffic kurang dari100Mbps
• Hardware dengan processor 1Ghz dual core seperti RB 1100AHx2 dan RB1100Hx2 idealnya untuk beban traffic lebih dari 100bps
•  Hardware dengan processor Multi Core x86 processor seperti varian MikroBits jenis Aneto, Ainos, dan Dinara idelanya untuk beban traffic kurang dari 1 Gps
•  Hardware dengan processor xeon processor seperti MikroBits Dinara idelanya untuk beban traffic  10 Gps\
